I believe that you can start to learn the piano at any age, as long as the desire and the motivation is there, and you're willing to practise, then you can achieve great things.
My lessons are tailored to the needs of the students, encouraging them to work on their weaknesses as well as develop their strengths. I can cater for a range of lessons, from students wanting to learn how to accompany their pop song compositions to blues improvisation to ABRSM graded pieces. I can compose specific pieces for students as well as create easy piano arrangements of songs. So far I have arranged pieces from Doctor Who to James Arthur for my students!
A 'typical' lesson may include performance technique exercises/warms ups, sight-reading, performance of pieces, and music theory as well as the study of rhythm and harmony. For the younger student, I have also developed a practise timetable as well as a reward system with stickers and games.
Whatever your interest or age, whether it be learning to accompany yourself, composing your own songs, developing improvisational skills, or fulfilling a lifelong ambition to take up an instrument, then I can prepare a lesson for you!
I also teach ABRSM music theory grades 1 to 5, with a 100% pass rate.
I am the head of secondary music at the Biggleswade Campus School and have experience teaching key stage 3 and 4. I am able to guide students through the compositional process to create GCSE compositions.
I can also create piano arrangements of your favourite pieces, bespoke piano compositions for special occasions and accompany for ABRSM practical grades.
